Julia E. Haus, Esq.
Julia E. Haus graduated from Wheaton College in 1984 earning a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations. Ms. Haus continued her interest in International Relations at California Western School of Law, focusing her studies in International Law and working for an International Law Professor. A course comparing legal systems around the world affirmed her belief in and dedication to the American Legal System because of the justice it affords all Americans. While in law school she excelled in Torts, Employment Discrimination, Civil Rights and International Human Rights earning the highest or one of the highest grades. It was clear where her heart would lead her in her law career: the pursuit of dignity and rights of the people.
In 1988, she graduated from California Western School of Law, receiving the prestigious American Jurisprudence Award in Torts. Shortly after completing law school and becoming a member of the California State Bar, Ms. Haus founded her own law firm. Prior years of experience at her father’s law firm gave her the confidence and know-how to establish herself quickly. She immediately began representing clients in personal injury, medical malpractice and employment cases obtaining judgments and settlements against insurance companies, local corporations, and popular restaurants in far higher numbers than her contemporaries. Over the years she has also successfully represented clients in family law, partnership dissolutions, as well as business and real estate litigation.
Ms. Haus has earned the respect of her peers, defense attorneys and Judges alike. She has been quoted in California Lawyer, Reader’s Digest, Los Angeles Daily Journal, and other media formats, including television (both locally and nationally), and newspapers (San Diego Union-Tribune, Sign On San Diego). Ms. Haus has also published articles in the American College of Legal Medicine, as well as articles on peer review, discipline hearings and appeals. The San Diego Union-Tribune profiled Ms. Haus for her representation of four women who were brutally disfigured by a local plastic surgeon. She not only successfully obtained the highest settlements possible, but also assisted in the revocation of the doctor’s license. Most recently, her case involving fraud in the motor vehicle airbag repair industry was featured in Readers Digest, KGTV Channel 10 News and the Today Show wherein she obtained a $15.5 million verdict- the largest amount received in such a case.
Ms. Haus continually strives to improve her skills and hone her craft. For the past 10 years she has been a part of the prestigious Trial Lawyers College, a group comprised of the top trial lawyers across the country founded by Gerry Spence. Ms. Haus is on the Board of Directors for the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego- the local Trial Lawyers Bar. For many years she has chaired the Community Service Committee and is a member of the San Diego Bar Association along with the California Employment Lawyers Association.
